Development First 12 Months Flashcards
Newborn - Typical
general movement contains a variety of symmetry and asymmetry
rhythmical and random kicking
random UL movements with their hands closed
turn head to either side
move limbs away from their trunk and support surface
tend to prefer prone to supine
enjoy physiological flexion
achieve a flexed posture via parent handling
Newborn - Atypical
general movement is cramped
synchronised
fidgety
writhing
3 months - Typical
Supine - smile, bring hand to mouth Prone - prop self, 45 degrees head lift - accidental rolling Begin to gain head control in positions become extended against gravity achieve extension whilst in prone begin to perform rotation and side flexion in supine and prone
3 months - atypical
persistent primitive reflexes
absent head control
delayed postural responses
3-6 months - typical
Supine - chin tuck
- bring head to midline
- reduced physiological flexion
- achieve antigravity flexion
- bring hands to midline
- bring hands and feet to mouth
Prone - prop self on extended UL Landeau Response - trunk and LL extension when lifted in prone reaching roll to supine
Sitting - head control prop self on UL increased trunk extension head control and erect head during pull to sit
Supported standing
- take weight through LL
- head midline and erect
3-6 months - atypical
absence of any normal postures and movements
6-8 months - typical
Supine - roll to prone Prone - lateral weight shift and pivoting belly crawling Sitting - move into/out of sitting - begin self feeding - bilateral and unilateral motor control Landea Response protective extension Parachute reaction
6-8 months - atypical
absence of any typical movements
8-12 months - typical
Supine
- symmetrical movement
- transition to sitting
Prone
- progress up to 4 point kneeling
- crawling
- pull to 1/2 kneel
Sitting
- no hand support
- turning/reaching
Standing
- pull to stand
- cruising
8-12 months atypical
absence of any typical movement
