Adolescence (age & physical growth)
Puberty: 8-16 y/o
Growth:
- Males: decrease in fat = incr endurance, speed, strength
- Females: incr fat in arms, legs, trunk
Fine motor skills developed
Relating to coordination, manipulation, flows and grips
- holding silverware to cut meat
- maintaining pen grip for writing
- pouring liquid into a container
Gross motor skills developed
Relating to posture, mobility, strength and effort, and energy
- stabilizing, aligning, positioning
- enduring (sitting for long periods) and pacing (conserving energy)
Process Skills
adaptation of previously learned skills to new environment
Temporal Organization
Logical sequencing of a task (start > finish)
Adaptation
Ability to anticipate, correct task performance accordingly
Cognitive Milestones (3)
Hypothetico-deductive reasoning: hypothesize & imagine what the result may be
Self-conscious & Self-focused: act like others or completely distance oneself
Scientific reasoning: utilize facts
Social development (influences)
Family is important influence to development
Peers can sometimes become more influential than family

Ability to let go of frustrations towards something or someone
IADLs & their importance
Cleaning room or house, Laundry, Taking care of pet
