Q

Define Motive flow

A

Moving fuel through the lines causing a pressure difference between fuel lines and tanks, this causes lower static pressure creates “Siphoning” effect pulling fuel from the tanks

Refueling Methods

A

Single-point pressure:
Used for simultaneously refueling both wings Via the side, single point adapter.

Over the wing gravity refueling:
Uses 2 ports, one on each wing. Used to increase capacity by 50 lbs in each wing.

Q

Describe Boost Pump

A

-Located in the collector tank-
Provides fuel for initial engine startup, and serves as a backup to the engine-driven low-pressure fuel pump

Any time PSI is below 10 in the motive fuel line, or the PCL is above the start ready position, the Electric boost pump is turned on.

Q

Describe the fuel filter

A

Fuel pumped through the lines to the fuel filter, used to prevent contaminants to flow through. The filter is equipped with a fuel bypass

Q

Fuel Shutoff Valves

A

Firewall Shutoff valve:
Actuated by firewall shutoff handle, stops fuel flow to the engine. (Can be reversed)

Maintenance shutoff valve:
Used to isolate the fuel system for engine or fuel filter maintenance

Q

Venturi Flow

A

Both Primary and Transfer jet pumps operate bu Venturi flow

17
Q

Flip-Flop Valve

A

This valve allows a Min. of 15 Sec. of fuel to feed to the engine during negative-G flight

18
Q

Fuel Level Probes

A

There are 7 Fuel level Probes.
3 in each wing tank
1 in the collector tank

They send the fuel level signal to the AEDD
