FuelT-6A Fuel SYS107 Flashcards
Approx. Fuel storage
1100 Lbs Usable
1200 Lbs Maximum (179 Gallons)
Ind. Tank Capacity:
Left - 530
Collector - 40
Right - 530
How is fuel fed to the engine
Motive flow system
Define Motive flow
Moving fuel through the lines causing a pressure difference between fuel lines and tanks, this causes lower static pressure creates “Siphoning” effect pulling fuel from the tanks
3 Fuel Tanks
Left-Wing Tank
Collector Tank
Right-Wing Tank
Refueling Methods
Single-point pressure:
Used for simultaneously refueling both wings Via the side, single point adapter.
Over the wing gravity refueling:
Uses 2 ports, one on each wing. Used to increase capacity by 50 lbs in each wing.
Gravity Port Restrictions
There is no automatic shutoff for this method.
Fuel cannot be defueled via the over the wing gravity ports
Define Defueling
Removal of fuel from the aircraft. (Done in 5 min. when performing extensive maintenance)
Describe Boost Pump
-Located in the collector tank-
Provides fuel for initial engine startup, and serves as a backup to the engine-driven low-pressure fuel pump
Any time PSI is below 10 in the motive fuel line, or the PCL is above the start ready position, the Electric boost pump is turned on.
Describe the fuel filter
Fuel pumped through the lines to the fuel filter, used to prevent contaminants to flow through. The filter is equipped with a fuel bypass
Fuel Shutoff Valves
Firewall Shutoff valve:
Actuated by firewall shutoff handle, stops fuel flow to the engine. (Can be reversed)
Maintenance shutoff valve:
Used to isolate the fuel system for engine or fuel filter maintenance
Fuel Pumps
An engine-driven low-pressure fuel pump is what feeds fuel to the Engine-Driven High-pressure fuel pump based on engine requirements.
Describe FMU
The engine-driven high-pressure fuel pump routes fuel to the FMU
The FMU controls fuel delivery to the engine
Fuel Flow Transmitter
-Located closer to the engine-
This sends a signal to the Alternate Engine Data Display.
Motive Flow Line
Fuel is routed from low-pressure fuel pump down the motive flow line.
Is used to drive the primary and transfer jet pumps
Primary Jet Pump
Fuel delivered by the motive fuel line drive the primary jet pump, the jet pump delivers fuel from collector tank to the low-pressure fuel pump
