Fuel System 12-10-1 Flashcards
What is the FSCU
Fuel System Computer Unit
What does the FSCU do
Monitors fuel quantity, controls fuel transfer and refueling/de-fueling
How many fuel tanks are there
- Left/right wing and collector tank, forward/center/aft aux, left/right saddle and tail tank
What is the Caution associated with the Tail Tank relief valve. (Disc on the vertical tail on the left side (#1 engine) )
If popped (open) indicates an over pressure condition and must be corrected before flight
On the overhead panel there are 2 fuel boost pump switches. What do those boost pumps do?
If the main ejector pumps fail or drop in pressure the standby pumps come on; also used for starting engines.
From which tank do the engines get their fuel
The collector tanks which are part of the main tank system
What is the Rotor-Burst Protection Shroud
Tail tank lines run past the engine, a shroud covers these lines. The shroud is filled with nitrogen and monitored by the FSCU. If the line is punctured Auto Tail Xfer is inhibited
Normally is fuel transferred from the tail to Aux tank on the ground?
No this inhibited by the WOW switch. Transfer on the ground can only be accomplished by pressing the Manual OVRD switch/light and selecting PRI or Sec
When operating in manual override mode (FSCU) with the Pri or Sec pumps stop when the tail tank is empty?
No, the crew must monitor the transfer and turn off the selected pump
