16
Q

How are the center tank pump switches different

A

Press is inhibited when the switch is off

so only will illuminate PRESS in yellow if switch is on and output press is low

17
Q

What does VALVE in Yellow on the Crossfeed switch mean

A

Valve position is not the same as the switch position

18
Q

Can one center tank feed both engines

A

yes by using the crossfeed

19
Q

How do you know suction feed is happening

A

yellow fuel flow from Main tanks

20
Q

How do you get fuel QTY expanded on EICAS

A

if cross feed or abnormaility in :
pump error
Qty low
imbalance

(check normal EICAS fuel display should appear once eng started prior to T/O)

21
Q

Where is fuel scavenged

A

from Center to Main if center pumps are turned off

22
Q

How do you know a fuel pump has been turned off due to low electric supply

A

Load Shed next to the pump

23
Q

What is NGS

A

Nitrogen Generation System

provides enriched nitrogen pumped into fuel tank to displace fuel vapors

(this reduces fuel flammability)

24
Q

How is fuel balanced on the 787

A

Main Tank inbalance is usually corrected by Balance system through the Jettison Valve

but if not operative use traditional crossfeed systems

(does not use the crossfeed chanels)

25
Q

How can you tell Balancing is happening

A

Switch ON
FUEL BALANCE ON - EICAS
Balance line from Jettison Valve on Synoptic

26
Q

When does the fuel stop balancing

A

< 100 Kg diff

FUEL BALANCE ON FLASHES 5 SEC

Switch goes out

(all automatic)

27
Q

Does the Cross feed transfer fuel from one main tank to the other

A

No, just allows fuel from one main tank to feed both engines

28
Q

When can the automatic fuel balance system be used

A

In flight

Ground with eng off and APU running

29
Q

When is the Automatic Fuel Balancing system inhibited

A

On Grd and APU not runnning

one or both Center tanks operating

Fuel is being Jettisoned

30
Q

Jettison is not availble when

A

on ground

31
Q

Which tanks can be jettison from

A

all tanks

32
Q

Which valves move the fuel to be jettison

A

Main tank Defuel

Center tank isolation valves

33
Q

Where are the Jettison Nozzle valves

A

inboard each aileron

34
Q

What does the TO REMAIN value target

A

MLW

also displayed is the JETT TIME on Fuel synoptic lower right

35
Q

What is the Fuel to remain dial for

A

to adjust the remain quantity from the MLW default

36
Q

Regardless of the TO REMAIN selection what fuel remains in each Main tank after Jettison is complete

A

3,900 Kg in each tank

37
Q

What pumps have to be on to jettison fuel

A

Main and Center tanks

38
Q

What does the VALVE in amber on the Nozzle switch mean

A

not in the commanded position
