Fuel Flashcards
Maximum Fuel
5320kg
Max imbalance
272kg
How is fuel fed to engines?
Primary ejector pump
AUX pump AC power
FLTR
respective filter has bypassed
What are the min and max fuel temperatures?
0 - 71 deg C
What are indications if the fuel temperatures are out of limits?
If below 0 deg, temperature display on MFD will change to yellow
If above 71 deg, temp will display in red
How is fuel quantity measured for display on the MFD’s and ED?
9 capacitance probes in each wing tank send signals to the Fuel Quantity Computer (FQC) which displays the calculated total fuel in each tank on the ED/MFD
How does the magnetic dip stick work?
The calibrated stick has a magnet at the top and a float with a magnet that sits at the fuel level. When dropped from its housing under the wing, the magnet from the stick is attracted to the magnet of the float and indicates the qty of the tank.
What is the indication of a fuel imbalance?
A yellow [BALANCE] indication flashes on the ED just above the fuel indications. The message will continue flashing until the imbalance is corrected
How is low pressure provided in the fuel system?
The primary ejector pump in the collector tank
How does the fuel get from the main tank to the collector bay?
Fuel scavenge ejector pumps located at tank low points, transfer fuel into the collector bay,
Flapper valves to the collector bay only allow fuel to inboard making sure that the collector bay always has fuel.
What is the purpose of the dump valves?
To allow venting of both air (and if required due to malfunction) fuel from the main tank into the surge tank during refuelling
When does the TANK FUEL LOW caution light illuminate?
Fuel level in collector bay falls to 140kg
Also requires: related engine to be running and park brake off
What is the consequence of taking off with the FUELING ON caution light?
The refuelling door is not closed properly, but airflow will keep the door closed and shouldn’t cause significant damage.
