What happened in the French Revolution?
They were 3 states: 1st King Louis XVI and the royalty 2nd nobility and the church 3rd commoners, peasant which payed most of the taxes. The Revolution starts on 1789 The commanders were not happy as they paid most of the taxes and the nobility never really paid any taxes for the king. The commoners pay around 90% on their money on bread so they start the flour wars, the 3rd este go against everyone because they want more money/pay less taxes. Louis orders a meaning with the representative of all of the states, this is the first time that they start a meeting over the past 100 years and the 3rd state decides that they are going to cut themselves off the governments, the decide to make their own government, the nation assembly. They start a riot the 14 of July in the Bastille putting it on fire and letting all the prisoners escape which meant the start of the Revolution. The revolutionaries break into the bastille and light it on fire whilst letting the prisoners run free. This was the start of the revolution. After that the National Assembly soon took over the country. As France was in so much debt and King Louis XVl didnt like the changes that they had made in France, he fled the country with his family. He decided to go to Austria but they soon found him and took him and Marie Antoinette to the guillotine. France was now a republic. But not much after that, a reign of terror started in France. Which was lead by a man called Robespierre; he wanted to stamp out any opposition to the revolution. Hundreds of thousands of people were executed and it soon got out of hand. However, napoleon realised this was also getting out of hand and decided that he would make an end to it so he did. And France was now a republic again.
