• ONE OF THE MOST RELIABLE AND ACCURATE METHOD.
▪︎ Was discovered by Pierre curie in 1903 that radioactive elements are continuously disintegrated and generate heat.
▪︎ The rate of disintegration depends upon the nature of the elements
▪︎ uranium ans thorium contain maximum amount of radioactive elements.
▪︎ In 1904 Rutherford suggested that if we can know the rate of disintegration and the mass of the remaining elements, we can know during which the element has reached the present conditions. The rate of disintegration is usually expressed by half-a-life-period.

From this method it is estimated that earth is 4 to 5 billion years old.
