What is Polygraphs?
Measures physical responses such as blood pressure and heart rate,sweating
What is Galvanic skin response?
linked to sweating and activation of sympathetic NS,increased sweating/GSR reading
How Does Polygraphs work?
Assumes emotion caused by telling lies will activate sympathetic NS causing physiological arousal.Therefore, there will be an increase in blood pressure,heart rate etc.
What are the 2 strategies used within polygraph tests?
Control question test, The guilty knowledge test
What is the control test
A technique used in polygraph testing,typically in criminal investigation. Control questions are designed to create a baseline of physiological responses usually related to past behavior
