Nutrients
Are the substances in food that provide energy the body needs.
Calorie
Is the amount of energy your body needs in order to function properly.
Simple Carbohydrates
Sugar. (Fruit)
Complex Carbohydrates
Many sugar molecules linked together in a chain. Ex. Wheat, corn, rice, and potatoes.
Fats
Contain more then twice the amount of energy then carbohydrates.
Saturated Fats
Fat that is solid at room temperature.
Unsaturated Fats
Liquid at room temperature.
Proteins
Source of energy.
Tissue growth and repair.
Vitamins
Provides what the body needs. Forms come in A,B,C,D, and K.
Minerals
Found in the rocks and soils and provides what the body needs.
Water
Need at least 8-10 glasses of this a day.
