A

Within 1 hour before and 1 hour after the estimated time of arrival, the ceiling will be less than 2,000 feet or the visibility will be less than 3 miles.

When is an alternate airport required for international operations?

A

Within 1 hour before and 1 hour after the estimated time of arrival, the weather forecasts indicate the ceiling will be at 1,500 feet above the lowest published instrument approach minimum or 2,000 feet above the airport elevation whichever is greater and visibility will be at least 3 miles or 2 miles more than the lowest applicable visibility minimums which is greater.

A

When the departure airport is below landing minimums. The takeoff alternate must be within 345 NM of the departure airport.

A

For 1 NAVAID, add 400 feet and 1 mile. For 2 NAVAIDs, add 200 feet and 1/2 mile.

Describe low time FO

A

When the FO has less than 100 hrs, the CA will make all TOs and LANDs when: At special qualification airports, VIS is at or below 3/4 sm, RVR is below 4,000 ft, the runway is contaminated, braking action is less than good, crosswind exceeds 10 kts, windshear reported or anticipated, or in the best interest of safety.
