19
Q

How are the flight controls trimed?

A

The Ailerons, Rudder and horizontal Stabilizers move to a new position?

20
Q

Will the MFS work in Direct Mode?

A

Yes, only in the air.

21
Q

What happens to the flight control system when the RAT is the only AC power source?

A
  • Horizontal stab trim operates at 1⁄2 speed
  • Slat / flap system operates at 1⁄2 speed
  • Slat / flap position is limited to ‘3’ to allow adequate airspeed for the RAT
22
Q

What does the TCS Button do?

A

if the AP is engaged, pressing and holding the TCS will momentarily override the AP. Releasing the TCS, the AP resumes airplane control.

23
Q

What is the E-PBIT testing for?

A

Looking for out of tolerance conditions and failures.

24
Q

What is the H-PBIT testing for?

A

Testing to see if the actuators can actually move the flight controls.

25
Q

At what temperature will the H-PBIT test to run unless expired?

A

Below 10 degrees.

26
Q

What is Fly By Wire?

A

No mechanical connection between flight controls and cockpit controls.

A signal is sent to a computer that tells the flight controls to move no physical connection.

27
Q

The Actuator Control Electronics talks to what 2 things?

A
  1. FCM - Flight Control Module

2. Hydraulic actuators that move flight controls

28
Q

What actually moves the flight controls after all the electronic signals?

A

PCU -> Hydraulic Actuators.

29
Q

What is the difference between Normal and Direct Mode?

A

Normal - ACE -> FCM -> ACE -> PCU

Direct - FCM is taken out of the Loop and the ACE talks directly to PCUs

30
Q

Explain the Flight Control Sequence and the computer talks to each other what you make a yoke or rudder input?

A
  1. A signal is sent to the proper ACE
  2. ACE talks to FCM
  3. FCM determines how much is needed and send that signal back to ACE.
  4. ACE talks to PCU and send the signal that it received from FCM.
31
Q

Explain Hight Level Function

  • ELEVATOR CONTROL VS. AIRSPEED -
A

Its determining how much we need to move elevator based on airspeed speed. The faster we go the less elevator is needed.

32
Q

Explain Hight Level Function

  • AUTO THRUST COMPENSATION -
A

Increasing or decreasing thrust causes pitch changes. The FCM helps with these pitch changes

33
Q

Explain Hight Level Function

  • AOA LIMITER -
A

IF we get into a stall condition this will limit how much you can keep pitching up, to further increase the star.

34
Q

Explain Hight Level Function

  • YAW DAMPER -
A

If we loose NORMAL MODE we will loose Yaw Damper

35
Q

Explain Hight Level Function

  • CONFIGURATION CHANGE COMPENSATION -
A

As you add speed brakes, it compensates from the pitch down.

36
Q

A flaps 2 takeoff in how many degrees of flaps?

A

10 Degrees

37
Q

A flaps 4 takeoff in how many degrees of flaps?

A

20 degrees

38
Q

A flaps full takeoff in how many degrees of flaps?

A

35 degrees

39
Q

Explain Spoilers?

A

They are electrically controlled and Hydraulic actuated by the S-ACE

40
Q

How do the spoilers help you stop the aircraft?

A

Increase the effective weight on the brakes.

41
Q

The Ground Spoilers how many and when do they pop up?

A

2 inboard spoilers per side and the pop up on rejected takeoff and landing

42
Q

what is the trip priority

A
  1. BackUp
  2. CAP
  3. FO
  4. FCM -> Auto
43
Q

What happens if one side of the trim is held for 7 seconds.

A

It hard mechanically disconnects the trim from the system. Only MX can re-connect it.

44
Q

How does the Jam Control Pull disconnect Handles work?

A
  • You get a jammed control Aileron or Elevator.
  • You pull one of the handles
  • The good side takes over and starts flying the airplane.
  • The bad side yoke gets stuck but will not move his side of the flight controls.
  • The good side Will only move his side of the controls not all the controls only their side.
  • Airplane will be sluggish because you only have half the controls.
45
Q

If you hold in the Auto Pilot DISC button what happens

A

It over rides the pitch trim
