Engines Flashcards
What type of Engine does the 175 have?
- GE CF-34-8E
2. High Bypass Dual Turbo Fan
In Flight placing the Ignition Knob to off does what?
Nothing happens, in the air it disregards off position.
Placing the Ignition Knob in OVRD does what?
When engines are running FADEC activates both exciters.
Thrust Reverser indication below N1, what do the colors indicate?
- Green - REV fully deployed
2. Amber - REV in Transition
When do you get a FAIL Amber box inside the N1 indication.
When engine has failed or shutdown without pilot input
When do you get a Cyan OFF inside the N1 indication?
When pilot has shutdown the engine.
When do you get N1 WING ANTI-ICE CYAN LINE?
- Below 1200 feet on Approach
- In Icing conditions
- Gear of Flaps out.
Thats the minimum N1 value to meet the bleed requirements.
How is N1 displayed on the EICAS
- Cyan Digital read out above N1
2. Cyan carrot on the radial.
What is the difference between White and Green for the ATTCS?
- White - Armed
2. Green - Engaged
What is a green tick mark on the N1 read out.
Max N1, if the throttles are set to Max Position they will advance to this value.
Where would a WML icon appear and what does it mean?
It would appear where the IGN A or IGN B is at indicating that the system is trying to re-light an engine that has flamed out.
What does an Amber Oil Pressure or Oil Temperature indicate
Caution Area Range
What heats up fuel to prevent freezing?
Engine Oil
During engine start what N2 does the Ignition Activate
about 7%
During engine starts what N2 does the Fuel get introduced
20% n2
During engine starts what N2 does the starter cut out?
50% n2
what sources can be used to do an Air Start
- Cross Bleed
- Windmeal
- APU Bleed Air. 21,000’
What does FADEC do to try to re-start an engine in the Air?
- Activates the Ignitions, WML icon is displayed
2. Introduces the Fuel Flow
What powers the Thrust Reversers
Had System 1 and 2
FADEC commands RSV in the ATTCS when
- Engine Failure
- Diffrent between both N1 of 15%
- Windshear
When is RSV mode manually activated
The RSV mode is manually activated by moving the thrust levers to MAX position whenever the ATTCS is engaged.
how many igniters activate for engine start
2 in the air
1 on the ground
Can the Ignition be turned off?
No not in the air, the switch is their to dry motor the engine on the ground
What controls the Engines
Dual channel FADEC, they alternate during engine start.
What does the FADEC provide protection from during starts on the ground
Hot Start, Hung Start, or no light off
Describe the Engine Start sequence
- N2 7% - Ignition
- N2 20% - Fuel
- N2 20% +5 Seconds - Light Off
- N2 50% Ignition Off
What is ATTCS
It provides Max Thrust Reserve RSV controlled by FADEC
Engines can produce how much thrust on takeoff?
13,000lbs of thrust
What is TO-1
Takeoff 1 is max takeoff thrust setting
When does the ATTCS activate RSV Power?
- N1 difference of 15%
- Engine failure
- Wind shear
Limit N1 on the ground while taxing to?
40% N1
For the engines to shut down what setting must the thrust levers be at?
Idle position
The ignition Knob on the ground in Auto position turns on during engines starts at what N2
7% N2
