How are the elevators controlled?
2 seperate systems via cable and pushrods. systems locked together at the columns.
When would you use electric standby trim?
If the trim cable before the AP servo broke
How is roll control provided above 140kts?
Inboard spoilers and ailerons
What component disables the outboard spoilers at 140kts?
ADC
Does the ROLL SPLR OUTBD HYD caution illuminate above 140kts?
No only if there is a loss of pressure in the system
What does a spoiler PUSH OFF caution mean?
Spoiler set jammed
What occures when a spoiler PUSH OFF light is pushed?
It opens a dump valve to that actuator set and depressurises that set inboard/outboard (SPLR HYD caution will illuminate)
What are the memory items for a control wheel jam?
Autopilot disconnect, roll handle disconnect, try both sides.
What are the memory items for a Roll Malfunction?
Hold wings level,
If either SPLR push off lights on - press
if not increase power+speed (more control with more airflow)
What are the memory items if an elevator jams?
Auto pilot off
Maintain current flap and airspeed settings
Attempt to overcome jam, if unable-
Use pitch disconnect handle.
What is the function of the rudder pressure regulator?
To provide more control at slower speeds by regulating the pressure in the actuators from 900PSI up to 1500PSI below 150kts
RUD PRESS
Incorrect pressure in the rudder pressure regulator for the speed (+-150kts)
RUD FULL PRESS
One actuator has failed and the other is recieving the full 3000PSI system pressure
RUD PUSH OFF
A rudder actuator has jammed
What cautions would illuminate if a RUD PUSH OFF was pushed?
RUD PRESS + RUD FULL PRESS
Can the rudder be gust locked?
No
In what positions are the controls gust locked?
Elevator down (yoke forward) and ailerons centered
What speeds are available for rudder trim adjustment?
FAST or SLOW
How is the Yaw Damper engaged?
Automatically if AP engaged, or manually by pressing Y/D on FGC panel
Which Hydraulic system powers the flap?

When selecting flap, when is pressure supplied to the FPU and for how long?
When gate lifted on flap lever. 70secs
FLAP POWER
Less than 1500PSI in the FPU
FLAP DRIVE
Primary flap drive shaft has failed (Secondary drive under load)
What wing is the aileron trim located on?
Right
What aerodynamic balancing does the tail employ?
Horn Balance

How many trim cables run from the trim wheel to the tail?

How does the AP control pitch?
By use of a motor attached to a pulley at the base of the tail connected to the TRIM cable
Are pitch and roll disconnects, reconnectable?
Yes
What powers the aft rudder section?
Pushed by rods connected to the Fore rudder
What connects the rudder pedals to the rudder?
Nothing, a spring provides feel but the rudder is full hydraulic.
Where are the rudder actuators loacted?
Both in the same place near the base of the rudder (stack one on top of each other)
RUD HYDR + consequence?
Less than 500PSI to the actuator, RUD FULL PRESS, as the remaining actuator automatically gets the full 3000PSI
How are the spoilers connected to the ailerons?
via a servo valve connected to the control cables
What type of flap is fitted
Single slotted fowler flap
What systems require flap position?
GPWS, STBY Hydraulic pumps, AP compensator, Gear warning horn
What mode of the GPWS is “TOO LOW FLAP”

Less than 5deg or more than 15 for T/O.
What is the travel of the rudder with flap 0?
12deg L/R
What is the travel of the rudder with any flap selected?
16deg L, 18deg R
