Flight Controls Flashcards
Describe the flight controls
All controls are hydraulically boosted to
- reduce pilot effort and to
- counteract control feedback forces
Describe the cyclic boosting
Fore/aft inputs to push/pull tubes to servo actuator to bellcranks and push/pull tubes to tilt the swashplate non-rotating ring
Fed through cam assembly - adds 12% of total movement
- aids in maintaining linear movements and compensating for transverse flow effect
- Force Gradient Cartridge permits cyclic movement if cam assembly becomes jammed
Describe the cam assembly
Adds 12% of total cyclic movement
- aids in maintaining linear cyclic movements, helps in compensating for transverse flow effect
- force gradient cartridge permits cyclic movement if cam assembly becomes jammed
CYC CTR CAS
Cyclic centering switch attached to cyclic stick bellcrank
- located under pilot set
- energized when WOG
Means cyclic is not centered - requires pilot input to center
Describe collective boost
Connected to servo actuator via push/pull tubes
Adjusts swashplate ball/sleeve assembly and cyclic levers changing MR blade angle without affecting cyclic path
What does TR boost include?
Pedals Pedal stop assembly Pedal adjustor Control tubes Bell cranks Hydraulic actuator Pitch control mechanism on TR gearbox shaft
Describe the pitch control mechanism of the TR gearbox shaft
Bellcrank and rod assembly actuates control tube through hollow drive shaft to cross head and pitch links
What are the three primary components of the pedal restrictor control system?
Airspeed actuated pedal stop system includes:
- Rotary solenoid
- Micro-switch
- Test button
Pedal restrictor control system operation
- GDC 74H calculates ASI from inputs and sends GIA 2
- ASI > 55 +/-5 KIAS, GIA 2 drives solenoid
- solenoid rotates mechanical restrictor limiting left pedal travel - ASI < 55 +/- KIAS, GIA 2 de-energizes solenoid
- left pedal returns to normal full range
Pedal Stop CAS
System has detected failure in pedal stop system
- Vne 60 KIAS
- Pedal stop emergency release - PULL
- Land as soon as Practical
During total electrical failure (Batt & Gen) solenoid is Fail safe to the Disengaged positon
- Restrictor is retracted and full left pedal travel is available
