FADEC Failure
Indications:
- FADEC audio
- FADEC FAIL CAS
- FADEC MANUAL CAS
- RESTART FAULT CAS
- FADEC mode to MANUAL
Procedure
- Throttle - time permits, match throttle to Ng indication
- Nr/Np 95-100%
- Depress FADEC mode button to mute
- Land as soon as practical
- Shutdown
FUEL VALVE CAS
Condition: Fuel valve is in transition or is not at its commanded position or the circuit breaker is out
Procedure:
- Check circuit in
- Land as soon as practical
- If on ground: cycle switch
FUEL FILTER CAS
Condition: airframe fuel filter in impending bypass
Procedure:
1. Land as soon as practical
Loss of TR Thrust - Hover
Indications:
- Right Yaw
- Nose tucking
- Roll of the fuselage
Procedure:
- Close throttle
- Perform hover auto
Loss of TR Thrust - In Flight
Indications:
- Right Yaw
- Nose tucking
- Roll of the fuselage
Procedure:
- Throttle - Idle
- Immediately enter auto
- 55kts minimum airspeed
- Throttle - closed
- Slight flare
- Touchdown, slightly nose high to correct side drift. Expect run-on type landing
Fixed Pitch Failure
*inability to change TR Thrust
Indications: lack of response, locked pedals
Hover: better controlled with power, if hard right yaw - close throttle
Left Pedal: run on landing “lucky left”
Right Pedal: close throttle as you raise collective “rotten right”
Loss of Hydraulic Pressure
Indications:
- Hydraulic CAS
- Grinding from pump
- Increased control forces and feedback
Procedure:
- 70-100 knots
- HYD Breaker - OUT, If not restored - IN
- If not restored: HYD Switch - OFF
- ASI - up to 120 knots for control forces
- Land as soon as practical
- Recommended run on landing
Flight Control Actuator Malfunction
Indications: uncommanded movements of 1 or 2 controls requiring forces in 1 axis, forces normal in unaffected axis
Procedure:
- Maintain attitude
- HYD Switch - OFF
- ASI: 70-100 knots
- Land as soon as possible using Loss of Hydraulic Pressure procedure
Cyclic Cam Jam
Indications: high forward/aft forces, normal pedal/collective/lateral cyclic forces
Procedure:
- Maintain normal pitch attitudes
- Land as soon as practical
*DO NOT turn Hydraulics off
Generator Failure
Indications: GEN FAIL CAS, Amps - 0, Volts ~24
Procedure:
- Generator field reset
- Circuit breaker - IN
- If not restored - GEN - OFF
- Land as soon as practical
Engine Fire on Ground
Indications: smoke, fumes, fire
Procedure:
- Throttle - Closed
- Fuel Valve - OFF
- GEN - OFF
- BATT - OFF
- Rotor break - Engage
- Exit helicopter
Engine Fire in Flight
Indications: smoke, fumes, fire
Procedure:
- Immediately enter Auto
- Throttle - Closed
- Fuel Valve - OFF
- Time permitting - Fuel Boost/Transfer - OFF
- Execute autorotative descent and landing
- BATT - OFF
Dual Fuel Transfer Failure
Indications: L/R Fuel Transfer CAS, Last 151.0 lbs in forward cell unusable, Fuel will stop transferring to main at 344.1 total pounds
Procedure:
- L/R Transfer Switches - Check ON
- Determine fuel in forward cell
- Subtract trapped fuel from total
- Plan landing accordingly
MISCOMPARE
Condition: Miscompare between primary and alternate sources, CAS will display
Procedure: Land as soon as practical
Pedal Stop CAS
Condition: system has detected a failure in pedal stop system
Procedure:
- VNE - 60 knots
- Pedal stop emergency release - PULL
- Land as soon as practical
Excessive Electrical Load
Indications: Increase in amps, smoke or fumes
Procedure:
- Vents - OPEN
- Begin Descent
- GEN Switch - OFF
- Land as soon as practical
- During remaining flight - fumes do not decrease: ASI - 60 knots or less
- BATT - OFF
- Left Transfer/Boost - ON
- If fumes do not decrease: Land as soon as possible
Cabin Smoke/Fumes
Indications: smoke, fumes
Procedure: 1. Descend 2. Air conditioner blower - OFF 3. Heater - OFF 4. All vents - OPEN 5. Identify source 6. If fumes clear - Land as soon as practical If fumes persist - Land as soon as possible
Electrical Fire
Indications: smoke fumes or fire, possible indication of abnormal amps
Procedures:
- Vents - OPEN as required to ventilate cabin
- Begin descent
- GEN - OFF
- Airspeed - 60 knots or less
- BATT Switch - OFF
- Left Fuel Transfer/Boost - ON
- Use standby airspeed and altimeter indicators
- Land as soon as possible
* With battery and generator off, 80% charged battery will operate left fuel boost/transfer pump for approx 1.7 hours
* Pedal stop disengages w/ loss of electrical power
* When throttle is set to idle during shutdown the PMA will go off line and the engine may flame out
ADC Failure
Indications: Red X on: ASI CAS, ALT FAIL CAS, Vertical Speed CAS, OAT CAS, Pedal stop displays
Procedure:
- Use standby ASI and ALT
- ASI below 60 knots
- ADC Breaker - Check IN
- Land as soon as practical
GIA 1 Failure
Indications: Master W/C Light and Audio, Red X Com1/Nav1, Loss of GPS 1
Procedure:
1. Use alternate Com/Nav
*You will loose cautions: DR FAAGS
Doors, RPM, Fuel, Anti-Ice, Auto Relight, GEN, Start
GIA 2 Failure
Indications: Master W/C Light and Audio, Red X Com2/Nav2, Loss of GPS 2, Pedal Stop Caution (If above 55 knots)
Procedure: 1. ASI below 60 knots 2. Use alternate Com/Nav *You will loose cautions: BW CHQX Batt Relay, WOG, CYC, HYD, Quantity Button, XMSN
GEA Failure
Indications: Master W/C Light and Audio, Red X - Fuel Quant, Fuel Pressure, Transmission Oil temp/press, ENG oil temp/press, GEN amp, BUS volt
Procedure:
- Land as soon as practical
* You will loose: CHIP Cautions (ENG, TR, XMSN)
Engine Underspeed
Indications: Decreasing PSI, Np, Nr
Procedure:
- Collective 85-107% Nr
- Throttle - FLY
- Match throttle indication to Ng indication
- FADEC - MANUAL mode
- Nr 95-100%
- Land as soon as practical
Engine Overspeed
Indications: Increasing PSI, Np, Nr
Procedure:
- Throttle - Retard
- Ng or Np - Stabilize with throttle and collective
- FADEC - MANUAL Mode
- Nr 95-100%
*If unable to maintain Nr, Np, or PSI - Enter Auto
Engine Compressor Stall
Indications: Engine pops, Increasing MGT/erratic, Decreasing Nr/Np/erratic, PSI oscillations
Procedure:
1. Collective - reduce for slow cruise
2. PSI - Check
3. ENG ANT-ICE - ON
4. Heater - ON
Continue? 5. Collective - slowly increase 6. PSI Monitor 7. Land as soon as practical
Shutdown Required? 5. Enter Autorotation 6. Throttle - Closed 7. Fuel Valve - OFF 8. Collective - Adjust to maintain 85-107% Nr 9. Cyclic - Adjust for desired airspeed 10. Prepare for power-off landing
Main Drive Shaft Failure
Indications: Left yaw, Decreasing Nr rapidly, Increasing Np rapidly, low RPM audio, RPM light, MFD to ENG page, increase in noise
Procedure:
- Maintain HDG and ATT
- Collective 85-107%
- Cyclic - adjust for desired airspeed
* **To maintain TR effectiveness, DO NOT shut down engine - Complete Auto Landing
- Complete helicopter shutdown
Engine Restart in Flight
- Attempt only if time permits
- Do not attempt if failure is obviously mechanical
Procedure:
- Collective - adjust for 85-107%
- ASI - as desired
- Fuel Valve - ON
- Throttle - Cutoff
- Start Switch - Hold to start position
- Ng - Between 12-50%
- Throttle - Idle
- PSI - Monitor
- Engine oil pressure - Check
- Throttle - Advance smoothly to FLY detent
If unsuccessful:
- Throttle - Closed
- Fuel Valve - OFF
- Accomplish autorotative descent and landing
Engine Hot Start/Shutdown
Indications: Increasing PSI rapidly, Increasing MGT, smoke/fire
Procedure:
- Throttle - Closed
- Fuel Valve - OFF
* Starter remains engaged until MGT is below 150C - Ensure starter is motoring
- Shutdown
Minimum Rate of Descent Speed
Autorotation
55 knots
Maximum Glide Speed
Autorotation
80 knots
VNE
Autorotation
100 knots
Engine out
Audio Indication
Fast Pulsing

Definition
Landing site and duration of flight are at the discretion of the pilot. Extended flight beyond nearest approved landing area is not recommended.
Land as Soon as Possible
Definition
Land without delay at the nearest suitable area at which a safe approach and landing is reasonably assured.
Engine Failure
in a hover
Indications: Left yaw, Engine out CAS, Master W/C Light, RPM Warning Light, Indicating power loss, MFD to engine page, Ng decreasing below 55% with engine out audio, Nr decreasing below 95% with RPM low audio
Procedure:
- Maintain - HDG and ATT
- Collective - adjust to control Nr and rate of descent, increase to cushion
Engine Failure
in flight
Indications: Left yaw, Engine out CAS, Master W/C Light, RPM Warning Light, Indicating power loss, MFD to engine page, Ng decreasing below 55% with engine out audio, Nr decreasing below 95% with RPM low audio
Procedure:
- Maintain - HDG and ATT
- Collective - adjust 85-107%
- Cyclic - desired auto speed
- Restart if time permits
- Fuel Valve - OFF
- Low altitude: Throttle - Closed, flare
- Collective - adjust to reduce forward movement and cushion
- Complete helicopter shutdown
MFD/PFD Failure
Indications: MFD/PFD fails, reversionary mode is not displayed within 5 seconds
Procedure:
- DU BACKUP button - PRESS
- Operating display will immediately revert to reversionary mode.
- Land as soon as practical
ENGINE CHIP CAS
Condition: ferrous particles detected
Procedure: Land as soon as possible
T/R CHIP CAS
Condition: ferrous particles detected
Procedure: Land as soon as possible
XMSN CHIP CAS
Condition: ferrous particles detected
Procedure: Land as soon as possible
Engine oil pressure high/fluctuating
Indications: increasing engine oil pressure/erratic *Max 130PSI
Procedure:
- Monitor engine oil pressure and temp
- Land as soon as practical
High engine oil temperature
Indications: increasing engine oil temp
*Max 107C
Procedure:
1. Land as soon as practical
Engine oil pressure low
Indications: Decreasing engine oil pressure below minimum
*115PSI above 95% Ng
Procedure:
- Monitor engine oil pressure and temperature
- Land as soon as possible
XMSN OIL PRESS CAS
Indication: transmission oil pressure low
30PSI at Idle, 40PSI continuous
Procedure:
- Reduce power
- Verify fault
- Land as soon as possible
XMSN OIL TEMP CAS
Indication: transmission oil temp at or above red line (110C)
Procedure:
- Reduce power
- Verify fault
- Land as soon as practical
Fuel Low CAS
Condition: 100 +/- 10 lbs of fuel remaining in aft tank
Procedure:
- Verify fuel quantity
- Land as soon as practical
