Emergency Procedures Flashcards
FADEC Failure
Indications:
- FADEC audio
- FADEC FAIL CAS
- FADEC MANUAL CAS
- RESTART FAULT CAS
- FADEC mode to MANUAL
Procedure
- Throttle - time permits, match throttle to Ng indication
- Nr/Np 95-100%
- Depress FADEC mode button to mute
- Land as soon as practical
- Shutdown
FUEL VALVE CAS
Condition: Fuel valve is in transition or is not at its commanded position or the circuit breaker is out
Procedure:
- Check circuit in
- Land as soon as practical
- If on ground: cycle switch
FUEL FILTER CAS
Condition: airframe fuel filter in impending bypass
Procedure:
1. Land as soon as practical
Loss of TR Thrust - Hover
Indications:
- Right Yaw
- Nose tucking
- Roll of the fuselage
Procedure:
- Close throttle
- Perform hover auto
Loss of TR Thrust - In Flight
Indications:
- Right Yaw
- Nose tucking
- Roll of the fuselage
Procedure:
- Throttle - Idle
- Immediately enter auto
- 55kts minimum airspeed
- Throttle - closed
- Slight flare
- Touchdown, slightly nose high to correct side drift. Expect run-on type landing
Fixed Pitch Failure
*inability to change TR Thrust
Indications: lack of response, locked pedals
Hover: better controlled with power, if hard right yaw - close throttle
Left Pedal: run on landing “lucky left”
Right Pedal: close throttle as you raise collective “rotten right”
Loss of Hydraulic Pressure
Indications:
- Hydraulic CAS
- Grinding from pump
- Increased control forces and feedback
Procedure:
- 70-100 knots
- HYD Breaker - OUT, If not restored - IN
- If not restored: HYD Switch - OFF
- ASI - up to 120 knots for control forces
- Land as soon as practical
- Recommended run on landing
Flight Control Actuator Malfunction
Indications: uncommanded movements of 1 or 2 controls requiring forces in 1 axis, forces normal in unaffected axis
Procedure:
- Maintain attitude
- HYD Switch - OFF
- ASI: 70-100 knots
- Land as soon as possible using Loss of Hydraulic Pressure procedure
Cyclic Cam Jam
Indications: high forward/aft forces, normal pedal/collective/lateral cyclic forces
Procedure:
- Maintain normal pitch attitudes
- Land as soon as practical
*DO NOT turn Hydraulics off
Generator Failure
Indications: GEN FAIL CAS, Amps - 0, Volts ~24
Procedure:
- Generator field reset
- Circuit breaker - IN
- If not restored - GEN - OFF
- Land as soon as practical
Engine Fire on Ground
Indications: smoke, fumes, fire
Procedure:
- Throttle - Closed
- Fuel Valve - OFF
- GEN - OFF
- BATT - OFF
- Rotor break - Engage
- Exit helicopter
Engine Fire in Flight
Indications: smoke, fumes, fire
Procedure:
- Immediately enter Auto
- Throttle - Closed
- Fuel Valve - OFF
- Time permitting - Fuel Boost/Transfer - OFF
- Execute autorotative descent and landing
- BATT - OFF
Dual Fuel Transfer Failure
Indications: L/R Fuel Transfer CAS, Last 151.0 lbs in forward cell unusable, Fuel will stop transferring to main at 344.1 total pounds
Procedure:
- L/R Transfer Switches - Check ON
- Determine fuel in forward cell
- Subtract trapped fuel from total
- Plan landing accordingly
MISCOMPARE
Condition: Miscompare between primary and alternate sources, CAS will display
Procedure: Land as soon as practical
Pedal Stop CAS
Condition: system has detected a failure in pedal stop system
Procedure:
- VNE - 60 knots
- Pedal stop emergency release - PULL
- Land as soon as practical
Excessive Electrical Load
Indications: Increase in amps, smoke or fumes
Procedure:
- Vents - OPEN
- Begin Descent
- GEN Switch - OFF
- Land as soon as practical
- During remaining flight - fumes do not decrease: ASI - 60 knots or less
- BATT - OFF
- Left Transfer/Boost - ON
- If fumes do not decrease: Land as soon as possible
Cabin Smoke/Fumes
Indications: smoke, fumes
Procedure: 1. Descend 2. Air conditioner blower - OFF 3. Heater - OFF 4. All vents - OPEN 5. Identify source 6. If fumes clear - Land as soon as practical If fumes persist - Land as soon as possible
Electrical Fire
Indications: smoke fumes or fire, possible indication of abnormal amps
Procedures:
- Vents - OPEN as required to ventilate cabin
- Begin descent
- GEN - OFF
- Airspeed - 60 knots or less
- BATT Switch - OFF
- Left Fuel Transfer/Boost - ON
- Use standby airspeed and altimeter indicators
- Land as soon as possible
* With battery and generator off, 80% charged battery will operate left fuel boost/transfer pump for approx 1.7 hours
* Pedal stop disengages w/ loss of electrical power
* When throttle is set to idle during shutdown the PMA will go off line and the engine may flame out
ADC Failure
Indications: Red X on: ASI CAS, ALT FAIL CAS, Vertical Speed CAS, OAT CAS, Pedal stop displays
Procedure:
- Use standby ASI and ALT
- ASI below 60 knots
- ADC Breaker - Check IN
- Land as soon as practical
