Q

Standby Hydraulic LOW QUANTITY light

A
  • always armed and illuminates at approximately 50%

- a leak in the standby system will empty the standby reservoir and take B system down to approximately 72%

Q

Standby Hydraulic LOW PRESSURE light

A
  • armed when the standby pump is on or when the automatic standby function is activated
  • indicates low output pressure of electric motor driven standby pump (

Q

STBY RUD ON light

A
  • comes on whenever the standby hydraulic system is turned on
  • indicates the standby rudder PCU is pressurized

Standby Rudder

  • the standby hydraulic system is provided as a backup if system A and/or B pressure is lost
  • the standby rudder PCU is powered by the standby hydraulic system
  • with the standby PCU powered the pilot retains adequate rudder control capability

Q

LOW PRESSURE lights (Flt Control A and B)

A
  • indicates low hydraulic press system A or B to aileron, rudder, or elevator.
  • deactivates when STBY RUD switch on or STBY RUD activated

Q

FLIGHT CONTROL SWITCHES

A

ON - opens flight control SOV to aileron, elevator, elevator feel, and rudder

OFF - closes the flight control SOV, isolating the aileron, elevator, elevator feel, and rudder from the corresponding hydraulic system

  • yaw damper switch flips off when sys B switch is placed through OFF
  • respective LOW PRESSURE light and FEEL DIFF PRESS light illuminate

STBY RUD

  • closes the related flight control SOV which stops hydraulic system pressure to the ailerons, elevators / feel computer, and rudder
  • activates the standby pump and opens the standby rudder SOV (#13)
  • arms the STBY HYD LOW PRESSURE light; it will blink when first turned on
  • the FLT CONTROL LOW PRESSURE light extinguishes indicating the standby rudder SOV has opened

Q

ALTERNATE FLAPS Master switch
OFF -
ARM -
(4)

A

OFF
- if the switch was in the ARM position, you resume normal ops when you move the switch to the OFF
ARM
1)arms standby hydraulic LOW PRESSURE light
2)starts standby pump
3)arms alternate flaps control switch
4)TE flap bypass valve moves to bypass position

Q

ALTERNATE FLAPS CONTROL switch
UP -
OFF -
DOWN -

A
  • functions only when Alternate flaps master switch is in ARM
  • max 230 kt to begin extension
CAUTION: when you put the switch in the UP position, it stays

UP

  • retracts TE flaps electrically
  • LE devices remain extended

OFF
- if it was in the UP position, the LE standby SOV relay stays energized which keeps the LE standby SOV open

DOWN (momentarily)
- energizes the LE standby SOV relay which opens the LE standby SOV (#4) which fully extends all LE devices using standby hydraulic pressure

Q

FEEL DIFF PRESS light

A
  • Illuminated indicates excessive differential pressure in the elevator feel computer
  • feel differential pressure switch monitors both A and B computer metered pressures and closes when it measures a difference of 25% between the 2 systems
  • the FEEL DIFF PRESS light comes on
  • you may have lost A or B hydraulics or an elevator feel pitot system may have failed (elevator pitot tube may be blocked)
  • MASTER CAUTION and FLT CONTROL annunciator also illuminate

Q

SPEED TRIM FAIL light

A
  • dual channel
  • illuminated indicates failure of both speed trim functions in FCC
  • MASTER CAUTION and FLT CONTROL annunciator also illuminate
  • indicates failure of a single FCC channel if illuminated when recall is pressed
  • this light will be on until the ADIRU’s are aligned

Q

MACH TRIM FAIL light

A
  • dual channel - illuminated indicates failure of both mach trim functions in the FCC
  • MASTER CAUTION and FLT CONTROL annunciator illuminate
  • indicates failure of a single FCC channel if illuminated when recall is pressed; if light can be extinguished by pressing MASTER CAUTION, system operates on remaining channel

Q

AUTO SLAT FAIL light

A
  • 2 SMYDs
  • indicates a single SMYD failure if it illuminates when recall is pressed
  • if the autoslat function is not available in one SMYD, then the other SMYD can still operate the autoslat function
  • if it illuminates without pressing recall, indicates a failure of both SMYDs

Q

YAW DAMPER light

A
  • yaw damper is not engaged or is inop
  • losing B hydraulic pressure does not cause this light to come on but yaw damper is inop
Note: The delay before the light goes out (after the switch is turned on) is for the rate gyro to come up to speed

Q

YAW DAMPER switch
OFF -
ON -

A

OFF
- yaw damper disengaged, yaw damper light will be illuminated
- goes OFF if:
- B FLT CONTROL switch to or through the OFF position
- power interruption to #1 transfer bus for more than 2 sec
- yaw damper rate gyro or actuator fail
ON
- primary yaw damper electrically engaged to main rudder PCU if the B FLT CONTROL switch is ON
- solenoid held on (does not require hydraulic pressure to be held in the ON position)
- engages standby yaw damper to standby rudder PCU if both the A and B FLT CONTROL switches are in the standby rudder position, using #2 SMYD
- solenoid will not latch if the rate gyro is not on line (IRU’s aligning) and compass rose (no heading numbers) is not displayed on ND (during alignment)
