What is aestivation ?
A
This is when the fish metabolism, respiration and heart rate decrease to a low level. Meaning they reduce the amount of oxygen needed, meaning they go months without food or water.

What is labyrinth?
A
This is a separate organ from the gills which alllows the fish to take in oxygen from the air instead of the water. This helps” with it going directly into the bloodstream. This is useful when there is low flow in the water.

Why are the special adaptations of the lungfish ?
A
They have gills which means they are able to extract oxygen from the water as well as using their lungs to get oxygen when in the air.
