What is correct about Anaphylactic shock?
It has a very rapid onset.
What characterizes Anaphylactic shock?
Hives, rapid pulse, low blood pressure.
How should documentation be?
Clear, concise, accurate and reliable.
What is the tearing away of an entire body part called?
Amputation.
What is the difference between a sign and a symptom?
A sign is something about the patient that you can see, whereas a symptom is something the patient tells you.
What is Heat Exhaustion?
When a person is exposed to temperatures over 80 degrees and includes sweating, nausea, dizziness, low BP, lightheadedness.
Heat Stroke is when a person is exposed to more heat than it can handle and includes the body being flushed and dry (no sweating), semi-consciousness, internal temps as high as 106 degrees.
What is the Standard Of Care?
The manner in which you must act or behave.
Must treat the patient to the best of your ability and provide care that a reasonable, prudent person with similar training would under similar circumstances.
What method can you use to warm someone who is cold and pale?
Put their arms under their armpits.
What is Insulin Shock?
Occurs if the body has enough insulin but not enough glucose.
What is a Third Degree Burn?
A full thickness burn that damages all layers of the skin.
Pain is absent because the nerve endings are destroyed, and it can lead to losing large quantities of body fluids, making the person susceptible to shock and infection.
What is Implied consent?
The patient does not specifically refuse emergency care.
Don’t hesitate to treat the unconscious, as the law assumes that in the right state of mind those people would consent to emergency care.
What does MOI stand for?
Mechanism of Injury.
What are signs of Congestive Heart Failure?
Breathing difficulty (major symptom), rapid shallow breathing, moist or gurgling respirations, profuse sweating, enlarged neck veins, swollen ankles, anxiety.
