Fire Protection Flashcards
What are the indications of an engine fire?
NAME?
What will unlock an engine fire switch?
NAME?
What happens when you pull an engine fire switch?
NAME?
How many fire bottles for the engine are there?
two on each wing
What type of fire detection do the engines have?
dual loop (“and” system)
Will I get a fire warning for an engine overheat?
no, you would get an overhead warning
What type of detection do I have for a cargo fire?
dual loops. 4 loops in each lower compartment, 16 in the main deckIt uses sample air from the center bleed air duct
What happens when I push the CARGO FIRE ARMED switch for the main deck?
- enables main deck fire suppression- turns off 2 packs- turns off all airflow and heat to the main deck and lower cargo compartments- closes master trim air valve - configures equipment coming to the “closed loop” mode
What happens when you push the CARGO FIRE ARMED switch for the FWD or AFT?
- turns off 2 packs- arms lower lobe cargo compartment fire extinguishers- closes master trim air valve ad cuts off all airflow to the lower cargo compartments- configures equipment cooling to the “override” mode
What happens when you press the CARGO FIRE DEPRESS/DISCH switch?
Main Deck: initiates cabin depressurization to a cabin altitude of 25,000FWD or AFT: initiates fire extinguishing (2 bottles immediately, other 4 after a brief delay or upon touchdown for a total of 334 minutes)
How many fire bottles are there for the lower. Argo compartments?
4 bottlesAB discharge immediatelyCD discharge slowly giving 150 min protection. If CD have not discharged before touchdown, they do upon touchdown. If the fire occurs on the ground, all 4 bottles simultaneously discharge.
How many smoke detectors does the main deck have? What things are actioned when the Main Deck Cargo Fire switch is pushed?
16Enables main deck fire suppressionTurns off 2 packsConfigured equipment cooling to closed loopShuts off all airflow to main deck cargoShuts off all air flows and hear to lower cargo compartments.Depressurises you’re 25000’ to reduce o2 to the fire.
Which fire tests are automatic?Which ones are manual?
