Fire detection Flashcards
FAULT light appears when?
Indicates both detector loops for an engine have failed or with Overheat detector switch in A or B indicates the selected loop for an engine has failed
DETECTOR FAULT light on the cargo fire panel is illuminated when?
One or more of the selected loop(s) in either cargo compartment has failed.
When do the Cargo Fire warning lights illuminate?
At least one detector in each loop detects smoke
What systems for fire protection does the Engines, APU, Lavs and cargo compartments have?
Engines: Fire detection & Extinguishing & Overheat
APU: Fire detection & Extinguishing
Lavs: Fire detection & Extinguishing
Cargo: Smoke detection & Fire suppression
Wheel well: Fire detection but no extinguishing.
What powers the fire protection systems?
Engine overheat and fire detection - BAT BUS
Extinguishing: HOT BAT BUS
Same for the APU
Main wheel well protection is powered by AC Transfer bus 2 and the battery bus
Cargo smoke detection - DC bus 1 and DC bus 2
Cargo fire suppression - HOT BAT BUS
How many extinguishers does the Cargo system have?
1
True or False?
The APU has a dual fire detection loop the same as the engine?
False - The APU has a single fire detection loop
True or false?
The forward and aft cargo compartments each have smoke detectors in a single loop configuration?
False - Dual loop!
How long does the fire suppression system last in the Cargo Hold?
75 Minutes
After pressing the DISCH switch, how long does it take for the cargo fire DISCH light to illuminate to indicate that the Cargo Fire Suppression system has been fully activated?
