Why was little extra funding required in the Crimean war?
The British empire had grown substantially meaning that Britain was now very rich. Furthermore only the standard army was used meaning that little funding was needed for recruitment.
What areas required increased funding during the Crimean War?
The government had to start investing more into shipping as the only way of accessing Crimea was by sea. Furthermore, the poor medical situation meant that more funding had to be allocated towards hospitals such as the one Brunnel was building.
What financial impact did Colonial wars have on Britain?
They were generally very cheap to fight as the technological advantage made the conflicts far easier to fight. Furthermore, the British would make more from having said territory to it ultimately helped the economy.
What were the financial costs in regards to the Second Boer War?
The war dragged on extensively meaning that more and more funding had to be poured into it. The war ultimately costed around £250 million in part due to Kitchener’s scorched earth policy as 8’000 block houses were constructed and 30’000 farms had to be compensated for.
