Major Life Events
Small, irritating, frustrating events that we face daily and that we usually appraise or interpret as stressful experiences
Hassle
Small, pleasurable, happy and satisfying experiences that we have in our daily lives

Feeling that results when your attempts to reach some goals are blocked
Frustrations
Feelings of doing poorly at one’s job, physically wearing out, and becoming emotionally exhausted
Burnout
Person has no degree of control over a particular event or situation
Uncontrollability
psychological experience produced by urgent demands or expectations for a person’s behaviour that come from an outside force
Pressure
it is the feeling of being pulled in two or more directions by opposing motives. Psychologist often classify conflicts into four types.
Conflict
A person must choose between two desirable goals
APPROACH –APPROACH CONFLICT
A person must choose between two undesirable goals
Avoidance-avoidance conflict
A person must choose or not choose a goal that has both positive and negative aspects
Approach-avoidance conflict
A person must choose between two goals, with each goal possessing both positive and negative aspects
Double approach-avoidance conflict
Confidence in one’s own ability to achieve intended results.
Self – Efficacy Expectation
WHAT’S THE DIFF BETWEEN SELF – ESTEEM AND SELF EFFICACY?
= Self-esteem is a permanent internal feeling while self-efficacy is a feeling that depends upon the performance at hand.
A cluster of traits that buffer stress and are characterized by COMMITMENT, CHALLENGE, AND CONTROL.
Psychological Hardiness
actively solve problems rather than avoid them.
COMMITMENT
considers change as an interesting incentive to personal growth, not as a threat.
CHALLENGE
feels and behave as though they were still in control of things.
CONTROL
The tendency of particular cognitive experiences to provoke laughter and provide amusement.
Sense of Humour
The ability to predict a stressor apparently moderates its impact.
Predictability and Control
The perception and actuality that one is cared for, has assistance available from other people, and that one is part of a supportive social network.
Social Support
recognizes that there’s no single, simple answer to that.
BIOPSYCHOSOCIAL
is a disease in which a waxy substance called plaque builds up inside the coronary arteries.
