British Archaeologist (1880-1960), known for excavations at Ur, Mesopotamia, Iraq. Considered one of the first “modern” archaeologist, knighted in 1935. Royal tombs at Ur in 1920s-30s dating to ca. 2700 BCE. Major contributions of architechture, literature, government, religion, ect of “Craddle of Civilizations”.
