Harmful dysfunction with unjustifiable behavior criteria:
A. Statistical Infrequency (Atypical) very unusual to happen
B. Disability or dysfunction (Maladaptive)
loss of normal functioning/ not allowing to have a quality of life
C. Personal Distress (Disturbing) anxiety disorder/ suicidal thoughts
D. Violation of norms ( walking around with multiple teddy bears)
How is schizophrenia characterized?
a long-term mental disorder of a type involving a breakdown in the relation between thought, emotion, and behavior
What is free association?
a therapy that Freud used in which a person relaxes, he gives a prompt and patient goes on and on and at the end eventually breaks down and cries just by their selves
mood disorder:
-Bipolar disorder: cyclical depression and mania AKA: Manic depressive (ex. Tasmanian devil)
~ Some signs and symptoms of mania :
-Excessively euphoric mood (excited)
-Racing thoughts and talking very fast
-Distractibility
-little sleep
-Spending sprees
-Abuse of drugs, alcohol
Anxiety disorder :
-Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD):Recurring thoughts/behaviors
-Excessive worries, doubts, superstitious beliefs
symptoms cause distress, take up a lot of time (more than an hour a day), significantly interfere with the person’s work, social life, or relationships

Constant apprehension
c. Panic disorder:
Sudden escalation of anxiety
d. Phobia: Persistent, irrational fear
- Tonitrophobia: fear of thunder
- Hematophobia: scared of seeing blood

-Gallophobia: Fear of france & things associated
- Zoophobia: fear of animals
What Causes Anxiety Disorders?
it is becoming clear that many of these disorders are caused by a combination of factors, including changes in the brain and environmental stress
How Are Anxiety Disorders Treated?
Medication
Psychotherapy
Cognitive-behavioral therapy
Dietary and lifestyle changes.
Relaxation therapy.

- Body aches
- Changes in appetite
