Amniotic fluid index (AFI)

A

Dividing uterus into 4 quadrants and measuring the largest pocket of fluid in each quadrant (exclude fetal parts/cord) and add together
-Progressively increases until 28 weeks then slows

-Gross fetal movement: 3 movements (2)
-Fetal tone: 1 limb/hand felxion or extension (2)
-Amniotic fluid: 1 pocket measuring 2cm x1cm (2)
*NO movement = loss points for movement and tone
