liberal femnists take a march of progress view regarding religion they acknowledge how progressive religion has become sometimes arguing that religion has become liberating for some women where as radical feminist take an negative approach to religion suggesting that it oppresses women through outdated and oppressive values

argument for- yes it is n, because religion oppresses and keeps women below the glass celling because the hierarchy in religion such as orthodox Judaism and Catholicism leaves them in subordinate positions where they cannot become priests or bishops

the argument that women are beginning to break the glass celling and become bishops and priests especially in the church of England has been proven for example in 1992 women started to become priests and in 2014 women started to become bishops
however this is only about 1/5 of females who have a hierarchal position in religion

religious teachings are oppressive towards women because they place women in a nurting house wife role example Christianity where the admirable role is the virgin Mary however this is criticised by woodhead who suggests that religion provides a clear role and status in the family and society giving women a clear purpose
