mons pubis, labia majora, labia minora, clitoris, bulbs of the vestibule, vestibular glands, perineal muscles, and anal canal
What are the labia majora?
Folds of skin that provide protection for the urethral and vaginal orifices
Where is the clitoris located?
Where the labia minora meet anteriorly
What is the vestibule?
The space surrounded by the labia minora, which contain the openings of the urethra, vagina, and ducts of the vestibular glands
What do the vestibular glands secrete
They secrete mucus upon sexual arousal
Which arteries supply the vulva?
External and internal pudendal arteries
The vulva is supplied by which nerves?
Anterior labial nerves, posterior cutaneous nerve of the thigh and the pudendal nerve
Name four structures that constitute the female internal genital organs
The uterus, uterine/ fallopian tubes, ovaries, vagina
Name the two main parts of the uterus
The body of the uterus, which is the broader part of the uterus, and the cervix of the uterus,
Name the three layers of the wall of the body of the uterus from outside to inside
The perimetrium, myometrium and endometrium
Which tissue type does the perimetrium consist of?
Peritoneum supported by a thin layer of connective tissue
What tissue type does the myometrium consist of?
Smooth muscle
What is the endometrium?
An inner mucous coat of the uterus that sheds during menstruation
What are the four parts of the uterine/fallopian tubes? Name them from distal to proximal to the uterus
The infundibulum, ampulla, isthmus and uterine part
Name four functions of the vagina
It serves as a canal for menstrual fluid, forms the inferior part of the birth canal, recieves the penis/ejaculate during sex and communicates with the cervical canal
