The ovary has four main function:

2. Production of steroid hormones
3. Production of secondary sex hormones
4. Regulation of postnatal growth

Where and when primordial germ cells (PGC) first appear in bitches and cows, and where do PGC migrate from there?

Answer 2

PGC first appear in the yolk sac at days 17 and 19 days post-coitus for the bitches and cows, respectively. These cells then migrate to dorsal mesenteric of the hindgut to the gonadal ridge, which at this time is undifferentiated and has the potential to form the ovary.
