A
- Get supplies ready and place cat under anesthesia
- Clip hair and aseptically prep area
- Extrude penis
- Slowly advance lubricated catheter into urethra
- Irrigate/Lubricate urethra as needed to advance catheter
- Advance catheter into bladder
- Flush bladder once catheter is in place
- Suture/fix catheter into place and connect to urine collection system

A
– E-Collar
– Medication (Buprenorphine- pain; Prazosin- urethral spasm control; Antibiotics should be avoided if no infection is present)
– IV fluids
– Urinary diet
– Decrease stress/anxiety
