What is NIL PER ORAL
Criteria for NIL PER ORAL
- Tense abdominal distension
- Abdominal tenderness
- Decreased Bowel Sounds
- Abdominal wall Erythema
- Gross/ occult blood in stool
- Heavy bile stained nasogastric aspirate
- Vomiting after 2 consecutive feeds with feeding tube in correct position
Signs of feeding intolerance
Vomiting
Abdominal Distension
Abdominal discoloration
Visible bowel loops
Tender firm, shiny abdomen
Bloody stool
Bloody/ watery stool
Bilious/ Bloody aspirate
Metabolic acidosis
Unwell baby
