Fascia Flashcards
Layers of Fascia
Superfiscial Fascia (Fatty Fascia)
Membranous Superfiscial Facial
Deep fascia - Often named for the muscle it is on
Name the fascia shown associated with axillary fascia.
What is significant with axillary fascia?
Axillary fascia helps to form the cleft in the armpit
What fascia covers the brachial muscle?
What covers the forearm?
How is it the anterior and posterior seperated?
Brachial Fascia
Antebrachia Fascia
Lateral/Medial intermuscular septum
What is significant of the medial intermuscular septum?
It covers the brachial artery.
What seperates the antebrachiel fascial?
The interosseous membrance between the radius and ulna.
What is significant about the Extensor Retinaculum of the wrist?
Has retinacula to help in more efficient extension of the wrist
What are the components of the wrist fascia?
Antebrachial Fascia
Extensor Retinaculum - focal thickening of fascia
Palmer Carpal L
Stronger Flexor Retinaculum or Transverse Carpal L. - Actual Ligament
What are the compartments of the hand?
What do they house?
Hypothenar compartment - little finger
Thenar compartment -Thumb
Central comartment - flexor tendons
Interosseus compartment - muscles between bone
Abductor compartment - abductor pollicis
What is significant of the palmar fascia of the hand?
It is much thicker, called the palmar aponeurosis. Is a sheet of tendons rooted at the palmaris longus in the wrist (some people dont have palmaris longus).
What type of fascia keeps palm skin fairly firm in place?
Retinacula Cutis extending from palmar aponeurosis
Label
Fibrous digital sheaths cover what and where?
They exist on the metatarsals and phalanges. They cover synovial sheaths.
