List 7 General functions of fascia
A
Thermoregulation
Protective padding
Support for tissues / organs
Reduces friction
Transmits mechanical force
Proprioceptive feedback
Myofascial system

Q
Describe Compartment Syndrome
A
increased pressure caused by swelling of tissue or increase in fluid
affects functions of the muscles or nerves in the compartment
fasciotomy to relieve pressure in emergency

Q
Describe Superficial Fascia + Where its found?
A
- ‘Loose’ connective tissue
- Collagen and elastic fibres
- Subcutaneous tissue
- Varies in thickness + distribution

Q
Describe Deep Fascia + Where its found?
A
- Dense organised connective tissue
- Devoid of adipose tissue (fat)
- Deep to superficial fascia + located almost everywhere
- investing fascia /intermuscular septa
