Definition of ‘failure to function adequately.

A

Unable to live a ‘normal’ day-to-day’ life.

Do not posses a ‘normal’ range of physical abilities, emotions and behaviours.

Behaviours that disrupt a person’s ability to work and form/maintain relationships.

Examples: Disabilities, mood disorders, OCD, ADHD, phobias, eating disorders.

Psychopaths can lead seemingly ‘functional’ lives e.g. family,

Examples: Harold Shipman, Fred and Rose West.
