group size
the size of the majority is an important factor influencing conformity, but only up to a certain point.
unaniminty
complete agreement among group members
normative influence
the impact of the standards established by the group on an individuals behavior.
deindividuation
the tendency for individuals to lose their sense of identity and individuality within a group.
informational influence
the influence of observable behaviors and info on an individual, influencing their behavior in certain situations or environments.
what was Milgram’s experiment about and how was is conducted and what where the results
it was researching to what extent a person shows obedience to an authority figure it involved a participant playing the role of a teacher asking the student the confederate questions and if answered incorrectly the teacher had to administrate electric shocks. milligram found that 65% of the participants went all the way up to 450V
what was Asch’s experiment about and what where the results.
Asch’s experiment was to investigate whether an individual would conform to a group and the extent to which people conformed. it involved only one participant that was among another 5 confederates they were presented a line and had to match it with a another out of three options. he found that 74% of participants conformed at least once during the study.
