And I came to the exiled, to Tel Aviv, who dwelt by the river Chebar, and I dwelt where they were dwelling, and I sat there seven days bewildered among them.

Tel Aviv is a place in Bavel where they settled. Ezekiel was stunned and bewildered by his vision and by being lifted up and transported…can’t speak.

  1. And you, take yourself wheat and barley, and beans and lentils, and millet and spelt. You shall place them in one vessel, and prepare them for yourself for food; the number of days that you lie on your side, three hundred and ninety days you shall eat it. 10. And your food that you will eat shall be with a weight, twenty shekels for a day; from time to time you shall eat it. 11. And water by measure you shall drink, a sixth of a hin; from time to time you shall drink [it]. 12. And as barley cakes you shall eat it, and they shall bake it with human excrement before their eyes.” 13. And the Lord said, “So will the children of Israel eat their bread unclean among the nations where I shall drive them.”

  1. “Now you, son of man, take yourself a sharp sword, a cobbler’s razor you shall take to yourself, and you shall pass it over your head and over your beard, and you shall take yourself a scale and divide them. 2. A third with fire shall you burn it in the midst of the city as the completion of the days of the siege; and you shall take a third and strike [it] with a sword all around it, and a third you shall scatter to the wind, and I shall unsheathe a sword after them. 3. And you shall take from there a few by number, and you shall bind them in your skirts. 4. And you shall take more of them, and you shall cast them into the midst of the fire and burn them with fire; therefrom a fire will emerge to all the house of Israel.”

Hair symbolism. What will happen to the remaining. Like the hair, 1/3 will be cut up (die by the sword), 1/3 will be burned, and 1/3 will be scattered to the wind.

Ezekiel 10:1-7

  1. And I saw, and behold on the expanse that was over the heads of the cherubim, [a thing] like a sapphire stone; like the appearance of a throne appeared upon them. 2. And He said to the man clothed in linen, and He said, “Come between the wheels under the cherub, and fill your hands with fiery coals from the cherubim, and cast [them] upon the city,” and he came, before my eyes. 3. Now the cherubim were standing at the right of the House when the man came, and the cloud filled the inner court. 4. Then the glory of the Lord lifted itself from upon the cherub onto the threshold of the House, and the House was filled with the cloud, and the court was filled with the splendor of the glory of the Lord. 5. And the sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard until the outer court, like the voice of God Almighty when He speaks. 6. And it came to pass when He commanded the man clothed in linen, saying, “Take fire from between the wheels, from among the cherubim,” he came and stood beside the wheel. 7. And the cherub extended his hand from among the cherubim to the fire that was between the cherubim, and he picked [it] up and gave [it] into the hands of the one clothed in linen, and he took [it] and left.

And I will put My spirit within you and bring it about that you will walk in My statutes and you will keep My ordinances and do [them]. 28. Then will you dwell in the land that I gave your fathers, and you will be a people to Me, and I will be to you as a God.

God will purify Israel with water. We weill get a new heart of flesh.

Ezekiel 37:5 37:11

So says the Lord God to these bones; Behold, I will cause spirit to enter into you, and you shall live!

Then He said to me, “Son of man, these bones are all the house of Israel. Behold they say, ‘Our bones have become dried up, our hope is lost, we are clean cut off to ourselves.’

Ezekiel 43:1-5

  1. And he led me to the gate, a gate that faced eastward. 2. And behold, the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the east, and its sound was like the sound of abundant waters, and the earth shone from His glory. 3. And it was like the appearance of the vision that I saw, as the vision that I saw when I came to destroy the city, and visions like the vision that I saw by the river Chebar, and I fell upon my face. 4. And the glory of the Lord came to the House by the way of the gate that faced eastward. 5. And a spirit lifted me and brought me to the Inner Court, and behold the glory of the Lord filled the House.

Ezekiel 44:6-16

  1. And you shall say to the rebellious [people], to the House of Israel; So said the Lord God: You have done enough of all your abominations, O House of Israel. 7. By bringing aliens of uncircumcised heart and of uncircumcised flesh to be in My Sanctuary to profane My House, by offering up My food, fat and blood, and they broke My covenant in addition to all your abominations. 8. You did not keep the watch of My holy things, and you appointed keepers of My watch in My Sanctuary. 9. So said the Lord God: No alien of uncircumcised heart or of uncircumcised flesh may enter My Sanctuary, of any alien who is in the midst of the Children of Israel. 10. Only the Levites who distanced themselves from Me when Israel strayed from Me after their idols, and they shall bear their iniquity. 11. And they shall be ministers in My Sanctuary, appointed over the gates of the House; they shall slaughter the burnt offering and the sacrifices for the people, and they shall stand before them to serve them. 12. Because they served them before their idols and were for the House of Israel as a stumbling block of iniquity; therefore, I lifted My Hand upon them, says the Lord God, and they shall bear their iniquity. 13. And they shall not approach Me to serve Me, or to approach all My hallowed things in addition to the most holy things, and they shall bear their disgrace and their abominations, which they committed. 14. And I will make them keepers of the watch of the House for all its service and for all that is performed in it. 15. But the priests, the Levites, the sons of Zadok, who kept the charge of My sanctuary when the Children of Israel went astray from Me, they shall come near Me to minister to Me, and they shall stand before Me to offer Me fat and blood, says the Lord God. 16. They shall enter My Sanctuary, and they shall approach My Table to minister to Me, and they shall keep My charge.

Ezra criticizes the people. They allowed Gentiles into the Beit HaMikdash.

The Levites become the temple servants because they helped Israel do worship outside of the Temple. But the line of Zaduk kept the holiness and they will return to the work of the Cahunah.

“The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.”
