myopia
nearsightedness; condition where vision at a close range is normal and at a distance is blurry
Hyperopia
farsightedness; a condition where vision at a distance is normal but nearby objects are blurry
Conjunctivitis
cause by an inflammation of the lining of the outer eye and inner surfaces of eyelids
Glaucoma
increased fluid pressure within the eye that can cause blindness
Macular Degeneration
a condition where the back of the eye where the cones are begins to deteriorate and cells die and blindness can occur
Cataract
loss of transparency of the lens
Emmetropia
normalvision; 20/20
Presbyopia
a type of farsightedness that develops with age as the lens becomes less elastic
Astigmatism
can be caused by an uneven curvature of lens or cornea leading to farsightedness or nearsightedness or wavy lines or darker lines seen
Strabismus
deviations in the alignment of the eyes to each other; one or both eyes turn inward/outward; cross-eyed
