Extras Flashcards
1
Q
esophageal hiatus and peristalsis
A
contractions of the muscles of diaphragm help with peristalsis (esophageal hiatus passes through right crus)
2
Q
why does vena caval foramen go through central tendon?
A
the central tendon does not contract during diaphragm contraction – we don’t want to compresses the vena caval foramen because the IVC passes through it
3
Q
why does aortic hiatus pass posterior to diaphragm?
A
we don’t want the aorta to be compressed during muscle contraction of the diaphragm
4
Q
locations of lesser omentum and greater omentum
A
lesser – superior to stomach;lesser curvature to liver
greater – inferior to stomach; greater curvature to post body wall
