this prooved there strength and determination. many suffered long term health problems as a result of there work and in total 61 died from chemical poisonings and 71 in explosions

with work came financial independants and there became less of a stigma surounding beeing unmarried. fahsion also became far less restricting
women undertook training to carry out work esential to the war effort
women worked in factories, transport, agriculture, engineering carrying out jobs previously occupied by a ‘skilled man’
