EXPERIMENTS - LEARNING - PAVLOV Flashcards
Who came up with the famous Classical Conditioning in what year?
Ivan Pavlov, 1902
What did Pavlov realise and note about his experiment to do with the digestive system with dogs associating with the Classical Conditioning
- Pavlov realised that each time the technician fed the dogs, the dogs would salivate each time during mealtime
- He noted that the dogs would salivate when they heard the footsteps of the technician the one who fed them
What was Pavlov’s hypothesis
He described it as?
That the dogs had come to associate the sound of the footsteps with the presence of food which he described as “conditioned reflex” in response
What was Pavlov’s methods of his experiment
- Pavlov began ringing the bell for the dogs to come and eat the food
- He did this many times over
What was Pavlov’s results of his experiment
Originally the dogs only salivated at the sight of the food
- However soon the dogs would drool on command with the sound of the bell, without the food present
What was Pavlov’s conclusions of his experiment
- Pavlov had concluded the dogs had unconsciously associated the stimulus of the bell, with the stimulus of the food, resulting in the same response for both stimuli
What was Pavlov’s aim?
He aimed to test his hypothesis by pairing food with a bell and seeing the resulting behaviour of the dogs
