Fitness
The ability to meet the demands of the environment
Health
A star of complete mental, physical and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of disease and infirmity
Exercise
A form of physical activity done to maintain or improve health or physical fitness but no competitively
Balanced healthy lifestyle
Health fitness and exercise are the three factors that must work together I increase fitness, endurance, performance and health benefits because without one fitness may deteriorate and health benefits will not increase
Cardiovascular fitness
The ability to exercise the body for long periods of time without tiring
The cardiovascular system
Made up of the heart, blood vessels and blood to supply the body with oxygen for exercise
Muscular endurance
The ability to use voluntary muscles many times without getting tired
Muscular strength
The amount of force a muscle can exert against a resistance
Flexibility
The rave of movement possible at a joint
Body composition
The percentage of body weight which is muscle and bone
Agility
The ability to change the position if the body quickly and to control the movement of the whole body
Balance
The ability to retain the body’s centre of mass above the base of support whilst possibly being static, dynamic or in different shapes
Coordination
The ability to use two or more body parts together
Power
Speed x strength
Reaction time
Time taken to react to a stimulus
Speed
The amount of time takes to perform a particular action or cover a certain distance
Effects of muscular endurance
Helps with sports that a mainly aerobic, last long times and require repeated use of the same muscles so that performers can prolong additional oxygen delivery to muscles working and to repeat muscle contractions over time without tiring
Effects of cardiovascular fitness
Helps in sports that are mainly aerobic, last long times and involve prolonged additional oxygen delivery so performers can maintain performance quality and work for time without tiring
Uses of muscular strength
When force is required like to lift heavy weights, to support own body weight or to not get pushed away
Uses of flexibility
Such as performing splits, increasing stride length or achieving the hurdling position
Uses of body composition
Affects all performers like a sprinter will need a low ratio of body far to muscle or sumo wrestlers are usually large and jockeys have to be lightweight
Uses of agility
Performers have to dodge other players
Uses of balance
Holding a position still or to stay in the circle when throwing the discus
Uses of coordination
Hand-eye to hit something with a racquet, hand-foot for a ball sport or hand-hand to dribble
