list the structures of the excretory system and what they do
KIDNEY- filters 120-150- quarts of blood to produce 2 quarts of urine
URETER- a tube that carries urine from the kidney to the urinary bladder
URINARY BLADDER- muscular sac in the pelvis the bladder stores urine allowing urination to be infrequent and controlled
what is the functional unit of the kidney
nephron
how do nephrons filter the blood
as blood passes through the capillary at the start of the nephron, small molecules are filtered out and pass into the nephron tubule( molecules of glucose urea ions and water). however large molecules such as blood proteins are to big to fit through the capillary wall and remain in the blood
where and why are urea produced
produced in the liver because there it is less toxic than amonia
how do kidneys regulate the amount of fluid in your circulatory system
kidneys regulate the fluid in your circulatory system by regulating the amount of water that is excreted more, where u drink and less when u don’t.
