Q

describe the relationship between the hypothalamus and the pituitary gland

A

the hypothalamus and pituitary gland are both located in the diencephalon

  • hypothalamus moderates homeostasis and controls the pituitary gland (like CEO)
  • pituitary gland is under control of hypothalamus and produces lots of hormones, the post pituitary gland produces antidiuretic hormone (conserves water) and oxytocin ( uterine muscle contractions)
