Exam 2-hypersensativity Flashcards
hypersensativity
exaggerated immune response damages host tissue
sensatized
mount normal response
when does hypersensative rxn happen
SUBSEQUENT EXPOSURES; Not on first exposure, must be 2nd, 3rd..
Type 1
IgE-anaphylaxi/degranulation-allergies; FAST (30 sec)
Type II
Antibody mediated
HOST CELL
Type III
IgG-immune complex mediated
SOLUBLE-Serum, Anthus, Percicius
Type IV
Delayed cell mediated; not antibodies-
CTL and macrophages
SLOW –> Tb and poison ivy
Mast cells vs basophil
Mast cell = stationary
Basophils=circulate in blood
binds IgG
Fc receptor on granulocytes such as histamine/basophils
Atopic individuals
form lots of IgE- Th2 -Th2 cells especially active in switching to IgE production
Also high affinity between Fc and IgE
crosslinking is caused by
binding of IgE
crosslinking of Fc receptors causes
inhibtion of adenylate cyclase –> reduces cAMP –> degranulation
Second Exposure
Antibody binds Fc receptors –> crosslinking –>inhibits adenylate cyclase –> reduction in cAMP –> degranulation
maintains inflammation
prostaglandins and leukotrienes
histamine causes
vasodilation, smooth muscle contraction, proteases increase mucous secretion
