Exam 2- glomerulonephritis Flashcards
what is glomerulonephritis
inflammatinon of glomeruli
what is the golemruli
arterioles network in bowman cap in kidneys
different in afferent and efferent arterioles in glomeruli
huge pressure difference- drives diffusion and osmosis
kidneys are a big/little consumer of CO
BIG- 20%
need high enough BP to perfuse well
levels of glomerulus
endothelium
basement membrane (GBM)
podocytes- makes urine
type 3 hypersensitivity rxn
deposited into tissues and causes inflammation that results in death
type 2 hypersensitivity rxn
direct cell death
causes of glomerulonephritis
- anti-GBM antibodies
- circulating antigen deposited in GBM
anti-GBM antibodies = what type of hypersensitivity
type 2
circulating antigen deposited into GBM = what type of hypersensitivity
type 3
triggers of glomerulonephritis
*strep/infections
berger disease-IgA
lupus
vasculitis
good paster’s syndrome- autoimmune that produces anti-GBM antibodies
S/S of glomerulonephritis
H- hematuria
A- azotemia (inc. nitrogen in blood)
R- retention
P- proteinuria
dec GFR
