Exam 1 - Upper Limb Intro Flashcards
Identify the parts of the Scapula (with a picture or bone)
Acromion, Infraspinous fossa, Neck of Scapula, Supraspinous fossa, Spine, Subscapular fossa, Body, Coracoid process
Study the surface anatomy landmarks of the upper arm.
Jugular notch, Sternoclavicular articulation, Acromion process, Acromioclavicular joint, scapular spine, greater tubercle of humerus, Lateral epicondyle of humerus, medial epicondyle of humerus, head of radius, Styloid process of ulna, Styloid process of radius, Olecranon process of ulna.
Match Arteries/Veins to Tributaries/Branches
Arteries have branches and Veins have tributaries.
Follow the main arteries of the upper limb.
Subclavian to the Axillary to the Brachial then to the Radial and Ulnar
What is the path of the main upper limb veins from distal to proximal.
Dorsal arch or Palmar arch lead to Cephalic vein which leads to Basilic vein leading to the Axillary vein and then the Subclavian vein.
At what vertebral level is the Brachial Plexus?
C5 to T1
What are the main nerves exiting the Brachial Plexus?
Axillary nerve, Musculocutaneous nerve, Radial nerve, Median nerve, Ulnar nerve
What muscles do the Posterior Ramus innervate?
Deep back muscles
What muscles do the Dorsal Scapular nerve innervate?
Rhomboids, Levator Scapulae
What muscles do the Suprascapular nerve innervate?
Supraspinatus and Infraspinatus
What muscles do the Lateral Pectoral nerve innervate?
Pectoralis major (clavicular head)
What muscles do the Axillary nerve innervate?
Teres major, Deltoid
What muscles do the Musculocutaneous nerve innervate?
Biceps brachii and Brachialis. More generally the anterior arm.
What muscles do the Radial nerve innervate?
Brachioradialis and Supinator
What muscles do the Subscapular nerves innervate?
Subscapularis and Teres major
