What are the code letters for CARP and how are they set up during the day?
- J, C, A, R, S: Regular DZ
- H, O: Circular DZ
- Minimum 9 Panels
- 11m x 11m
How do you mark a CARP DZ at night
- PI marked with block letter with flanker lights (flanker lights 250m away to either side of PI)
- Flankers are white
- Apex of code letter is at the PI
- Min 9 white lights (rated @ 15 candelas)
- Trailing edge beacon used during actual PAX drops (optional)
- IR may be used if A/C is qualified
Where are the DZSO/DZSTL located on CARP drops for personnel?
AT PI
Where are the DZSO/DZSTL located on CARP drops for CDS?
located 140 meters to the 6 o’clock position of the PI
What are some “no drop” signals?
Block letter formed into X
Letter removed
Red smoke (Day only)
Red Flares
Any other coordinated signal
How do you visually signal a delay in drop?
Indicate delay in drop by forming two parallel bars using panels
Place at the base of the letter with the bars perpendicular to line of flight
What is the “no drop” signal via comms
Transmitted NLT one minute prior to Time on Target (TOT) unless emergency
If less than one minute out -
“NO DROP, NO DROP, NO DROP”
