Who is responsible for initiating an evacuation?
The PIC
What times can Cabin Crew initiate an evacuation in the following instances?
- If the aircraft has sustained significant structural damage on landing and has broken up;
- An obvious self-sustaining major fire has started in the cabin; or
- The aircraft has landed on water and a Ditching evacuation is imminent.
What is the evacuation command from the PIC?
“EVACUATE, EVACUATE, EVACUATE.”
What is the secondary notification?
High pitched Horn Sound throughout the Cabin.
How far should passengers get away from the aircraft when evacuating?
200 metres away from aircraft upwind
What are the rules on the commands during an evacuation?
They need to be:
- Clear
- Loud
- Concise
- Unambiguous
What are the commands during a land evacuation?
“Evacuate, Evacuate, Evacuate”
“Unfasten seat belts”
“High heels off”
“Come this way” - Once slide is inflated
“Jump and sit”
What do you say when evacuating the aircraft?
Name, position, evacuating
What commands would you say if it was a blocked exit?
shout re-directional commands for an unusable exit:
- “Blocked exit”;
- “Go forward”;
- “Go back”;
- “Go Across”.
