Eukaryotic Cells Flashcards
How are eukaryotic cells more complex then prokaryotic cells?
As they have more organelles.
Name examples of eukaryotic cells?
Animals.
Plant.
Agal.
Fungal.
Name the organelles found in a animal cell?
Lysosome. Ribosome. Nuclear envelope. Golgi apparatus. Cytoplasm. Micochondrion. Smooth endoplasmic reticulum. Nucleus. Nucleolus. Rough endoplasmic reticulum. Cell surface membrane.
Name the organelles which plant cells have that animal cells don’t have?
Cell wall.
Chloroplast.
Vacuole.
Plasmodesmata.
What are the plasmodesmata?
Channels for exchanging substances between adjacent cells.
What do starch grains do?
They aren’t organelles.
They store excess sugars.
What do algal cells carry out?
Photosynethesis like plant but unlike plants they can be unicelluar or mulitcelluar.
What are the similarities and differences between plant and algal cells?
Algal cells have the same organelles as plant cells.
But
The chloroplasts in many algal cells are a different shape and size to plant chloroplasts.
What can fungal cells either be?
Multicellular or unicellular.
Name the 2 key differences from a fungal cell and a plant cell?
Their cell walls are made from chitin, not cellulose.
Don’t have chloroplasts - Don’t photosynthesise.
