Euakryotic Cells - Nucleus Flashcards
Name the organelles in which euakryotic cells have?
Cytoplasm. Nucleus. Mitochondrion. Ribrosomes. Endoplasmic reticulum. Golgi Body. Lysosomes. Cytoskeleton. Undulipodium. Microvilli. Cell membrane.
The cytoplasm?
Its the solution within the cell membrane.
Contains enzymes for glycolysis and other metabolic reactions together with sugars, salts, amino acids, nucelotides and everything needed for the cell to function.
What is the largest organelle in the euakryotic cell?
The nucleus.
The nucleus?
Its surrounded by a nuclear envelope which is a double membrane with nuclear pores.
In the nucleus what are the nuclear pores?
Large holes containing proteins that control the exit of substances from the nucleus.
What is the interior of the nucleus called?
Nucleoplasm.
Full of chromatin - DNA/protein complex.
What happens to the chromatin in nucleus during cell division?
It becomes condensed into discrete observable chromosomes.
What is the nucleolus in the nucleus?
Its the dark region of chromatin involved in making ribosomes.
